Weddings & Blessings

Designed and Officiated by Rev. Diana McLean

I love helping people celebrate the milestone in their lives. Being with people in these pivotal moments of their lives is a deep honor, and one of the parts of ministry I most enjoy.

Rites of passage are always customized to meet the wants and needs of those involved. Some of the elements I've used include a wedding labyrinth, a handfasting, and a wedding at which the couple and I designed a part of the service to honor the bride's parents, both of whom had died within a few years before the wedding. One of the most fun weddings I performed was a steampunk wedding, where I was the only one not in costume! (The couple assured me that I was not required to find a costume in order to be their officiant.)

Child dedications are a ritual of commitment of a family and their extended community, to support the growth and well-being of the child, and of the family as a whole. They can happen soon after birth or adoption, or with a child of any age.

"Thank you so much for making our special day complete. You were the perfect person to marry us, your words meant so much, and the blessing you gave us before the wedding still makes our eyes well up when we think about it."

~ Ali and Mary K.

Other rituals might be:

  • a house dedication

  • a name changing ceremony

  • or a custom blessing ceremony for any life milestone you want to celebrate

Honorarium for weddings, dedications, and blessings: $250-$500
